Yes, logistics and shipping have been incorporated into the Co-Pilot program, but are priced separately as per the actual cargo fare
Since Hula Global treats each client as an individual case and customizes fulfillment services to each client’s needs.
The frictionless supply chain model allows fashion brands to concentrate most of their resources on design, branding, and sales.
With our end-to-end supply chain services, we are fully compliant and transparent from factory dispatch to the doorstep of your end customer. We design logistics services to your brand and order volume requirements.
With the Co-Pilot program, all brands are clients of Hula Global and have access to their full range of logistics services, including, but not limited to, door-to-door shipping, export docs, customs, insurance, and freight.
Therefore, once your production is finished, the headache of international shipping, documentation, and compliance is not yours to bear. Your production will be legal and compliant, and your trusted logistics partners will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of your production to the designated country.
Although industry standards require us to provide unit pricing in USD on an FOB (Free On Board) basis, we can adjust our shipping terms to meet your needs.
FOB means Hula Global takes responsibility for transporting the goods to the shipping port in India, where the buyer then assumes responsibility for freight, insurance, and subsequent deliveries.
This term is a standard in international commerce and offers brands transparency in production costs, whilst allowing them to choose their own freight forwarder should they wish to take control of shipping.
Still, for brands that want to take an even more hands-off approach, we can set up shipments under CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms, depending on your area and specific delivery requirements.
With CIF, Hula Global includes shipping and insurance to your destination port in our quoted price, which provides you with cost certainty. DDP is even more comprehensive, where we take care of shipping, insurance, customs duties, and taxes, meaning the shipment will arrive at your location with no extra costs or administrative work on your side.
Your experience, budget, and comfort with logistics management determine which shipping option you choose: FOB, CIF, or DDP. CIF and DDP make everything easier and less risky, which is why new founders and small brands tend to go with those options.
More seasoned businesses with strong freight partnerships usually go with FOB, which allows for more control over shipping.
The mode of transport, whether it's air or sea, depends on the volume, urgency, and budget of your order. If the order quantity is relatively small or the launch is time-sensitive, air freight is usually the preferred option because of its speed.
Pricing for air freight is very volatile and is influenced by things like fuel prices, demand, trade conditions, and airline capacity. With that, we tend to complete production orders on an FOB basis for which air shipping is required and get air freight quotes closer to the shipping date.
No air freight company will provide you with reliable pricing outside of a couple of weeks because of the volatility of air freight pricing, unless you’re shipping a very large quantity in a contracted volume, like ultra-fast fashion companies like Shein.
In cases of larger orders or businesses that are not in a hurry, sea freight is the more cost-effective method. It is also the most suitable method for businesses engaged in large production units.
Although the process is much longer, it lasts for several weeks, sea freight reduces the cost of shipping per unit drastically. Hula Global works with top-class sea freight providers who ensure the safe handling and transport of the goods.
Yet another important aspect of logistics under the Co-Pilot program is compliance and documentation.
Shipping is subject to several legal and regulatory compliances, like the presentation of bills of entry, packing lists, certificates of origin, and export declarations. We assist in the preparation of these documents to ensure smooth clearance for our clients so that delays are not experienced.
For American-based customers, further considerations apply as tariffs, trade, and import regulations tend to vary over time. Thus, Hula Global can only quote a price in USD on a FOB basis, which applies to the United States. Then, it is the brand’s responsibility to determine the duties, taxes, and other import costs applicable, based on the HSN code of the product.
HSN determines how your product is defined according to international trade legislation and, hence, how customs duty, if applicable, will be levied on your product.
Despite this limitation, we still strive to provide advice and transparency in these areas, seeking to help brands better understand the potential impact of tariffs on landed cost for their business.
There are many customs brokers and freight forwarders that entrepreneurs can leverage to calculate these customs fees prior to making their final decision to place an order.
Similarly, insurance is another significant factor associated with our logistics support. It is important to note that international packages have an inherent level of risk associated with them.
This risk can be due to various factors, such as improper handling or some unfortunate circumstances. Therefore, we offer insurance facilities through our logistic partners, which can provide you with adequate insurance in case of unfortunate incidents.
Overall, Hula Global’s method for handling logistics, under the Co-Pilot program, is flexible, supportive for founders, and professionally run. Whether you want full support for your end-to-end shipping or prefer to take a partially active role yourselves, we will be able to adjust our support to suit your needs.
By managing critical supply chain complexities for you, we can deliver rapid support for your journey from production to delivery, helping you avoid getting lost in the complexities of the process and allowing you to concentrate on building your fashion brand.
