Logistics for private label brands

Certainly, Hula Global provides private-label brands with logistics and shipping services, incorporating a standardized approach to ensure that finished goods seamlessly transition from the factory to the end consumer.

This is part of our standard offering under the payment terms of DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) or LDP (Landed Duty Paid).

For the Private Label Program, Hula Global incorporates logistics as a fundamental component of the manufacturing partnership, instead of treating it as a disconnected, ancillary service.

Branding shipping methods as either FOB, CIF, or DDP is dependent upon their operational framework and which of the four options they want to control customs and freight.

To better grasp this, an explanation of the shipping terminology is needed. FOB (Free On Board) means Hula Global handles production and logistics to the export control port, then the buyer is responsible for freight, insurance, and customs, which is known as ‘customs clearance’.

This is a common choice among corporate brands or sellers with a freight forwarder and global logistics already established.

CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) means that Hula Global arranges shipping to the destination port, and the freight and insurance costs are included in the quoted price.

The buyer is responsible for the customs process and transfer to the final destination after the shipment reaches the destination port. This is great for brands that want to do some importing but want help with other logistics.

The most complete shipping option is DDP (delivered duty paid). Under DDP, Hula Global takes care of the entire shipment process, including freight and insurance, customs, duties and taxes, and delivery to the client's warehouse or distribution center. This is perfect for brands that want to ‘remove’ international logistics from their to-do list.

Planning logistics for Sea Freight is the most cost-efficient, especially at the scale of Private Label orders, which usually lie at the level of entire shipping containers. Hula Global takes care of container booking, supervision of loading, export documentation, and port handling. That way, we assure the smooth dispatch of the shipment.

In the case of time-sensitive orders, air freight can be arranged. However, with the volume involved in private label production, air freight is used very sparingly because of the substantial increase in landed costs.

To meet retail deadlines, some brands make air shipments while the rest of the shipment moves by sea.

Logistics involves managing export documentation for commercial invoices and packing lists, origin certificates, destination country compliance documentation, and any other required documentation.

Proper documentation can help prevent customs delays, penalties, and holds on shipments.

Brands selling to regulated markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, and Australia, need to be concerned about customs regulations and HS (Harmonized System) codes for their shipments.

While evaluating and paying for the import duties is the responsibility of the brand under FOB terms, Hula Global is able to help with documentation to ensure the compliance risks are minimized.

Extreme care is taken during container loading to avoid creasing and other damage to the garments. To ensure the shipment is retail-ready, special attention is given to the stacking of cartons, moisture protection, palletization (if required), and sealing of the cartons. This is especially true for high-value private-label brands.

Insurance coverage can also be organized based on the chosen shipping term. When using CIF and DDP shipping terms, freight insurance coverage is usually included to safeguard against potential loss or damage. Brands using FOB shipping terms can organize their own insurance coverage.

Another major benefit of integrated logistics is the coordination of timelines. With integrated logistics, production, and shipping are organized in the same organized program. As such, the dispatch schedule is coordinated with the completion of manufacturing.

Hula Global also takes into consideration global trade fluctuations, the risk of port congestion, and peak shipping seasons in organizing logistics. Early booking and organization can help reduce unexpected delays, especially during peak retail seasons.

For enterprise clients with operations in various markets, shipments can be divided or combined depending on distribution plans. Some brands choose to ship entire containers to a central warehouse, while others may require direct shipments to various regional distribution centers.

Transparency is ensured by tracking and sharing documentation. Brands are notified of the shipping date, estimated time of arrival (ETA), and any updates on the shipment. This helps in better inventory management and retail launch planning.

Sustainability can also be considered in logistics. Brands that value sustainability may look into carbon-friendly shipping options or container optimization to lower the carbon footprint of freight per unit.

In conclusion, yes, Hula Global does handle logistics and shipping for Private Label brands. With flexible options such as FOB, CIF, and DDP, brands can choose the level of involvement that works best for them. From container booking to documentation, customs, and delivery, logistics is integrated into the manufacturing process.

This organized process ensures that large-scale apparel manufacturing not only meets quality requirements but also reaches the global market on time, safely, and on schedule.
