Participants in the Fashion Business Accelerator Bootcamp will get the value of an ambitious fashion founder bringing an idea for a new fashion brand to a coaching session to develop a fashion business plan that will help the graduate to an actionable fashion business plan.
Each day will build on the last, allowing the participant to gain a full appreciation for the balance of the creative side with the business side of a fashion brand. This workshop is about applying the relevant business theory to the participants' own anti-brand business journey.
Workshop Day 1 will focus on the foundation and the basic understanding of the costing that comes with a fledgling vertically integrated fashion brand. New fashion business founders often fall into the trap of using their own internal socialization of the brand and therefore rush into the product design, skirting the definitional understanding of their target market and failing to gauge the real market demand for them.
This Day 1 workshop will teach aspiring fashion business owners to clarify their brand vision to accurately define their target customer and better understand their customers’ preferences.
The Day 1 workshop will teach an aspiring designer to clarify their brand vision to accurately define their target customer and better understand their customers’ preferences. Through exercises and discussions, participants will explore brand positioning and market differentiation.
In addition to validating the niche, Day 1 teaches participants the very important skill of economic models. This is an area that challenges new entrepreneurs. Production, logistics, and other hidden costs that affect profitability are commonly underestimated by beginners and the choice of economic models.
Participants of the bootcamp learn to break down these elements by understanding how to calculate costs, how to price products, and what the minimum order quantity (MOQ) is that allows them to break even.
After Day 1, participants understand the financial viability of their business idea and the confidence to determine how to price their products.
Day 2 changes focus to supplier mapping and production, the next important building blocks of a growing fashion brand. This understanding is as important as building her/his prototype as finding the first reliable manufacturer and supplier.
Participants learn how to evaluate suppliers, their capabilities, and what questions to ask them to strike a meaningful partnership. The program teaches the important elements of the global apparel supply chain: fabric, how to source it, manufacture, and control the quality of the final product.
Besides zealous mapping of suppliers, Day 2 goes deeply into the nitty-gritty of production planning. Founders learn all about the various moving parts of lead times, sampling, and the steps involved between a design and a finished product.
The bootcamps teach effective communication with manufacturers and the importance of realistic timeframes to sidestep delays and expensive blunders. By the end, participants can, for the first time, fully plan a production run. It's a stark contrast to the previous reliance on guesswork and a lack of information.
Day 3 focuses on three areas: marketing, sales systems, and a content strategy, which are essential for making a profit from a fashion brand. Even the most beautiful creations won't be able to thrive without the proper marketing and sales plan.
On this day, participants learn about the various marketing methods at their disposal, including social media, influencer marketing, email marketing, and digital ads.
A notable aspect on Day 3 is being introduced to the content flywheel, which will be beneficial for founders to establish scalable and replicable marketing structures. Rather than seeing content creation as something to be done occasionally, this bootcamp shows attendees how to create a system for keeping all aspects of the customer lifecycle active.
Founders are taught how to cross-post content on different platforms and create brand loyalty for a customer and not a transactional relationship, through promotional activities.
The bootcamp, over the 3 days, has also offered some engagement, mentorship, and peer-to-peer learning. Industry experts and founders have encouraged participants to ask questions, provide insight, and have their ideas challenged.
This has created an opportunity for different ideas to be presented, to think about them in a new way, and to gain confidence in their ability to make decisions.
The most beneficial aspect of the bootcamp has been the learning by doing. While most business courses are highly theoretical, this course has focused on the practical aspects of doing. Participants have worked on their brand ideas, computed costs, identified suppliers, and formulated a marketing plan.
This approach has ensured that attendees leave the bootcamp with actionable strategies to implement in the future.
Participants will finish the three-day session with a definite plan of how they will launch a fashion brand. They will know their target audience, understand the costs involved, how to deal with suppliers, and have a rudimentary marketing plan to begin selling.
The bootcamp will not guarantee success, but most of the uncertainty will be eliminated, and the participants will have the tools to make the right calls.
The goal of the 3-day Fashion Business Accelerator Bootcamp is to condense several years of trial and error into an extensive and structured journey. If you are serious about developing a fashion business, the course offers you clarity, direction, and actionable steps.
Against a background of strategic frameworks, industry trends, and practical activities, the participants are guided to take tangible and well-considered actions to grow their businesses.
