When fabric is sourced directly from textile mills, it is supplied in full rolls rather than small, made-to-order quantities. Each roll contains a fixed amount of material, which can typically be converted into anywhere between 100 to 500 garments. The exact number depends on several factors, including the width of the fabric, its GSM, the pattern layout, and the total meterage available in the roll. Since mills produce fabric in standardized batches, breaking these rolls into smaller quantities is neither practical nor cost-effective. As a result, brands are required to purchase fabric in these minimum volumes, which naturally leads to the concept of a fabric MOQ.
